Cardi B knows how to make a statement.
The rapper, 30, made an appearance at the 2023 Grammys to present the award for rap album to Kendrick Lamar while paying tribute to the late Spanish and French designer Paco Rabanne in a futuristic silver metallic gown with a matching over-the-face hood.
She strut her stuff in a silver metallic top and long skirt, both strategically made from strategically cut triangular pieces, from designer’s Spring Summer 2021 collection. She paired the stunning skin-baring look with a matching hood was from Fall Winter 2020 collection.
The “WAP” hitmaker looked like a space age soldier in the metal mesh hood, which covered her eyes and dangled down near her ears.

The Tin Man-chic look was designed by current Paco Rabanne creative director Julien Dossena and not by Rabanne himself, who retired in 1999 — but it was still a sweet way to pay tribute to the late designer’s line.
Rabanne, who created similar Space Age metal mesh looks for stars like Jane Fonda, Audrey Hepburn and Brigitte Bardot, passed away earlier this month at 88.
It seems like sparkling metallics were the theme of the night, with Harry Styles, Beyoncé, Viola Davis, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez and more all wearing some sort of glittering look for the musical awards show.
“See cardi’s doing what harry THOUGHT he was doing with the shimmering silver,” one fan quipped on Twitter, referencing the sequin fringe jumpsuit Harry Styles wore to perform “As It Was.”
“Okay, Cardi! This is how silver is done!” another fan applauded.
One person asked, “Is silver the new gold?” before questioning, “Can Cardi see?”
The star’s statement-making look wasn’t her first sculptural outfit of the night; She first hit the Grammys 2023 red carpet in a gravity-defying, sculptural electric blue gown by Indian designer Gaurav Gupta Couture.
We can only imagine what the “Be Careful” singer will slip into for the after parties to come.
