There’s no rest for the fabulous.
The day after his New York Fashion Week show, designer Dennis Basso flew to glamorous Gstaad, Switzerland, where he was spotted doing a late-night fitting for a client.
A spy tells us they saw Basso – who has dressed Kris Jenner, Martha Stewart and Helen Mirren — fitting a London socialite in a floor-length $200,000 Russian sable coat at midnight at the ritzy Palace Hotel.
“Things start at 2p.m. in Gstaad and go till 2a.m.,” our source said when we asked about the late hour.
We hear that the expensive fur coat was the same one that opened Basso’s recent New York Fashion Week show at 583 Park.
“She had seen it online,” says our insider of the society woman.
We’re told the talk of the town was the lack of snow, but the Gstaad source quipped, “It means everyone had to shop.”
Basso was also in town to celebrate his 68th birthday, a tradition that we hear goes back 21 years in the Swiss ski town.
A source tells us Basso, his husband Michael, and a group of chic Europeans were spotted celebrating at the hotel’s restaurant, Le Grill.
“All 150 people in the dining room, who were not all guests at his party, broke out into ‘Happy Birthday’ with a violinist,” says a spy.
We hear Basso was further toasted by close friends at their respective chalets.
The designer is also celebrating 40 years in fashion. His latest New York show — which had modeling icon Beverly Johnson walking the runway — featured a video montage of famous clients including the late Barbara Walters and Ivana Trump.
