Gayle King sided with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new docuseries, “Harry & Meghan,” saying it was not a “reality show.”
During the Thursday episode of “Watch What Happens Live,” Andy Cohen joked about how Markle previously said she would never do a reality show, prompting the “CBS Mornings” anchor to quickly correct his statement.
“It’s not a reality show,” King, 67, said. “It’s not.”
The award-winning journalist added that she “can’t wait” to tune in to the new Netflix docuseries, which hit the streaming platform on Thursday.
King — who knows Markle, 41, and Harry, 38, through her best friend, Oprah Winfrey — is knowledgeable about the troubles the couple has endured during their time as royals.
A few weeks after Queen Elizabeth II passed away at age 96 on Sept. 8, King shared that she was optimistic that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would reconcile with the rest of the royal family.
“There have been efforts on both sides to sort of make this right,” she told “Extra” after Her Majesty’s funeral on Sept. 19.
“We shall see.”
The “Note to Self: Inspiring Words From Inspiring People” author admitted that though it’s normal for “big families” to “go through drama” all the time, it “remains to be seen” whether the royal division will ever be fixed.
“Are they going to be drawn closer together or are they going to be drawn apart?” King said. “I have no idea. I have no inside information on that, but I will tell you this: It was good to see Harry standing with his family.”
