Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York penned a touching tribute to Lisa Marie Presley after the singer died on Thursday, revealing their surprising friendship.
“I say hello to you everyday and I love you my sissy and I will continue to say hello to you everyday,” Fergie, 63, captioned an Instagram photo where the two hugged lovingly on Friday.
“You were my sissy, an amazing mother to Ben, Riley, Harper and Finley and a superbly loving daughter to Priscilla. You have been my devoted friend for many years and I am here for your family to support and love them. I am deeply saddened my sissy, you are in my heart.”
A friend close to Prince Andrew’s ex-wife told Page Six that the two women originally met when Lisa Marie lived in Sussex, England with her ex-husband Michael Lockwood back in 2010.
“They hit it off straight away, they just seemed to understand each other,” the friend told us, explaining that they hung out in the same circle as Bob Geldof, his wife, Jeanne Marine, Jeff Beck and his wife, Sandra.
“They became quite close and kept in touch when Lisa Marie moved back to the States. And she was very supportive of the Duchess when she had tough times, particularly when she was caught up in the ‘Fake Sheikh’ scandal (In 2010, Fergie was recorded offering access to her ex-husband, Prince Andrew, for money).
The source further told us that Lisa Marie was “one of the few people who really reached out to her,” claiming that “she offered her a refuge” in Hawaii to weather the storm.
“The Duchess never forgot that, Lisa Marie went out of her way to be a supportive friend,” the friend told us. “They really bonded as sisters.”
In fact, the two were so close that they had spoken a few weeks ago “about [Lisa Marie’s] daughter Riley working alongside the Duchess on film projects as her first adult novel is being turned into a TV series or film.”
Fergie — who “regarded Lisa Marie as family” — “is really very upset” after Elvis Presley’s only daughter died after suffering a cardiac arrest at age 54.

A few hours after she was rushed to West Hills Hospitals and Medical Center in California and placed in a medically-induced coma, her mother, Priscilla Presley, announced the tragic news.
“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” Priscilla, 77, said in a statement Thursday night. “She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.”
Page Six later reported that Lisa Marie had coded multiple times after her initial arrest.
On Friday, a family rep confirmed that the sole heir to Elvis’ estate will be buried next to her beloved son Benjamin, who died by suicide back in 2020, at Graceland, in Memphis, Tenn.
She is survived by her daughter Riley, 33, and twins Harper and Finely, 14.
