No pain no Gaines.
Joanna Gaines had to undergo back surgery right before the holidays, but is grateful that recovering will force her to rest.
“I had my first microdiscectomy in 2001 and had to cancel my second date with Chip Carter Gaines and then had the same procedure on another disc two weeks ago,” Gaines captioned a photo Thursday that showed her lying in a hospital bed.
She continued, “I’ve always joked that my back likes to act up at the most inconvenient times and I was a bit stressed bc of the timing of it all with the holiday season.
While the HGTV star, 44, was worried to go under the knife so close to Christmas, she later realized “forced rest” is a “gift.”
Gaines explained that she injured her back while doing a cheerleading stunt in high school, and has been “dealing with it ever since.”
She also took the opportunity to send holiday wishes to her fans and urged them to live in the moment and enjoy themselves.
“Wishing you and yours a beautiful Christmas week. It may not all go as planned- but may you find the beauty and embrace the wonder of the here and now. ✨,” she concluded.
Gaines and her husband Chip Gaines are no strangers to prioritizing their R&R. Back in 2017, the duo quit their HGTV show, “Fixer Upper,” because they “need to take a breath.”
Since then, they have launched the Magnolia Network in 2021.
Joanna and Chip, 48, celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary earlier this year.
“I like you a lot,” Joanna said in a sweet post over the summer to celebrate the milestone with Chip.
The pair share five kids: Drake, 17, Ella, 16, Duke, 14, Emmie, 12, and Crew, 4.
