Lizzo nearly pulled a neck muscle trying to spot Beyoncé in the room at the 2023 Grammy Awards on Sunday night.
The evening’s host, Trevor Noah, was giving his opening monologue next to Lizzo’s table when he announced, “We’ve got Beyoncé in the room, people!”
Lizzo, 34, then jumped slightly out of her seat to look around the room and try to spot the “BREAK MY SOUL” artist, mouthing excitedly, “where?”
The twerking flutist’s jaw dropped in shock as she scanned the room for 41-year-old Beyoncé.
Fans took to Twitter to react to Lizzo’s blatant fangirling over Beyoncé.
“Lizzo is all of us. Beyonce where? #GRAMMYs,” one person tweeted.
“where’s Beyoncé?” LIZZO IS SO REAL LMAOOO😭😭😭,” a second wrote.
“Lizzo is Beyoncé #1 fan [for real],” a third said.
“Lizzo flew up 😂😂,” another laughed.
Just minutes later, the audience learned that Beyoncé had not yet arrived at the event as she was caught in traffic and running late. Queen Bey even missed being awarded the Grammy for Best R&B song.
But Noah assured the crowd that she would soon be gracing them with her presence.
“For real, Beyoncé is on her way. The upside of hosting the Grammys in LA is that everyone can be here. The downside of hosting the Grammy in LA is the traffic,” he said.
An hour and a half into the show, Bey and her husband, Jay Z, appeared at their respective tables before Noah handed over her first Grammy of the night.
This year, Beyoncé has been nominated for nine Grammys and could break the record for the most Grammy wins. Her husband, Jay-Z, will be performing at the star-studded award show.
Meanwhile, Lizzo is up for five nominations and is also one of the evening’s performers. The “Juice” artist was seated with Adele as well as her boyfriend, Myke Wright. She and Wright walked the red carpet together earlier in the evening.
She looked stunning in a peach corset gown by Dolce & Gabbana layered beneath a matching floral cape. Meanwhile, Wright looked dapper in a tuxedo.
The loved-up couple showed PDA on the carpet and wrapped their arms around each other for shutterbugs to snap.
On Saturday night, Lizzo attended Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy gala with her comedian boyfriend and shared several photos from them to her Instagram.
“Hard Launch😮💨,” she captioned the post.
The duo started dating in 2021, though they’ve known each other since 2016.
Lizzo was initially quiet about their relationship, but they made their Instagram debut last June after walking the red carpet together at her Amazon Prime Video reality series, “Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls.”
