The lyrics to Miley Cyrus’ new song “Muddy Feet” have fans theorizing that the singer’s ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth, cheated on her.
“And you smell like perfume that I didn’t purchase / Now I know why you’ve been closing the curtains / Get the f–k out of my house,” she sings on the track from her album “Endless Summer Vacation,” which dropped Friday.
The lyrics also include, “I don’t know / Who the hell you think you’re messin’ with / Get the f–k out of my house with that s–t / Get the f—k out of my life with that s–t.”
In the chorus of the Sia-featured song, Cyrus, 30, implies that Hemsworth, 33, kept “comin’ ’round with [his] muddy feet” and that she would have to “do [something] ’bout it.”
Many fans of the “Climb” singer took to Twitter to share their theories that she was hinting through her music that Hemsworth had been unfaithful to her.
“Did Miley just confirm that Liam cheated on her multiples times at her house on #MuddyFeet omg 😱,” one person asked.
“miley cyrus confirmed liam hemsworth cheated on her multiple times in her new song muddy feet,” another listener surmised.
“There are 12 tracks and a demo on Miley’s new album, representing the twelve women Liam cheated on her with, and herself, which he treated like a practice run,” a third person speculated.
“How TF Miley stayed with Liam that long when all he did was cheat?! I don’t understand😬,” another tweeted of the former couple, who were together for about a decade.
Other social media users, however, weren’t sold on the unfounded rumors, which went so far as to claim Hemsworth had cheated with over a dozen women.
“Where did the Liam cheated with 14 women come from? I ain’t defending him, will always defend my girl miley I’m just wondering if the Internet made it up? 😭😂,” one skeptic wrote.
“Where are people getting this ‘Liam cheated on Miley with 14 women’ from cause Miley literally said nobody cheated and 14 is such a specific number,” another agreed.
The number 14 seemingly stemmed from Cyrus featuring 14 men in her “River” music video, which also dropped Friday.
Others pointed out that the dress the “Hannah Montana” alum wore to a Versace fashion show Thursday was adorned with 14 stripes to signify each time her ex allegedly cheated.
Cyrus previously shaded Hemsworth on the album’s lead single, “Flowers,” in which she sings about their failed marriage. Adding insult to injury, she released the No. 1 hit on streaming services just hours before Hemsworth’s birthday in January.
The former couple started dating in 2009 after meeting on the set of “The Last Song.” Cyrus later revealed she lost her virginity to the “Hunger Games” star when she was 16.
They dated on and off for years before secretly marrying in December 2018. But by August 2019, Cyrus announced that they were separating after less than a year of marriage. Days later, Hemsworth filed for divorce.
Sources told Page Six at the time that the Australian actor had learned of the stars’ split through social media when Cyrus’ team released a statement announcing the news, but insiders on both sides agreed the relationship had been crumbling for months.
Cyrus swiftly moved on with Brody Jenner’s ex-girlfriend Kaitlynn Carter, though the fling was short-lived. She then dated Cody Simpson for 10 months until they broke up in August 2020.
Nearly two years later, Cyrus confirmed her romance with Liily drummer Maxx Morando, whom she is still dating.
Meanwhile, Hemsworth began dating Gabriella Brooks shortly before his divorce from Cyrus was finalized in January 2020.
The “Isn’t It Romantic” star and Brooks, 26, were photographed trying to keep a low profile while traveling together after “Flowers” came out earlier this year.
Reps for Cyrus and Hemsworth did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
