A magical Hawaii retreat once rented by the tragic Hollywood glamour couple Robert Wagner and Natalie Wood is on the market for $16 million.
Other tenants of the home have reportedly included Johnny Cash and Jackie Kennedy Onassis.
Wagner and Wood rented the oceanfront beach house on the coveted Diamond Head coastline of Oahu — with stunning mountain views — in 1978, listing broker Julianna Garris, of Hawaii Life, tells Gimme Shelter.
Three years later, at age 43, Wood drowned while on her family’s boat with Wagner and Christopher Walken. Wood’s death was initially ruled an accident until 2012, when her death certificate was amended and her cause of death changed from drowning to “drowning and other undermined factors.” Witnesses had said that Wood and Wagner were arguing at the edge of the boat before Wood, the star of “Miracle on 34th Street,” disappeared. Her sister, Lana Wood, had told The Post she believes that Wagner was responsible for Wood’s death. Last May, the LA County Sheriff’s Department finally cleared Wagner, now 92, and closed the case.
In happier times, the couple enjoyed this stunning beach house at 3639 Diamond Head Road in Honolulu. The three-bedroom, 4½-bath spread is 3,168 square feet and sits on a third of an acre.
The traditional home, with batten board siding, comes with 85 linear feet on the beach, along with a lawn, gardens, stone walls, gates and hedges for privacy.
Design details include hardwood floors, crown moldings and pocket glass doors to maximize ocean and garden views. A main bedroom on the second floor features vaulted ceilings, a walk-in closet and a covered ocean-facing lanai.
