Padma Lakshmi has a message for the haters who can’t take a “joke” between her and her daughter, Krishna.
The “Top Chef” host, 52, posted an Instagram video on Tuesday, where the 12-year-old filmed her as she cooked. In the clip, the young girl used one of her hands to cover Lakshmi’s chest from the camera’s view.
When the Bravo star asked her daughter what she was doing, Krishna quipped that she was “censoring” her chest.
“Censoring my boobs?” Lakshmi responded. “You ate off those boobs for a good year and a half.”
Funnily, the chef captioned the video “Littlehands: ‘cover your boobs’ Also Littlehands: *zooms in on boobs*.”
While many fans praised Lakshmi for her witty remark to Krishna, others criticized the mother-daughter moment.
“As a mom of 4 daughters, there’s a time and a place and when it starts making our daughters uncomfortable because we are being objectified, time to take notice,” wrote one social media user.
Lakshmi defended herself against the fan, writing, “First if [sic] all it’s a JOKE. And my daughter isn’t uncomfortable with me or my boobs or my posts, nor does she read these comments unless I show her because she isn’t on social media.”
“It’s really not that serious folks,” she added.
The food writer then told the fan that her daughter is not on social media because “she has her studies to attend to.”
While it’s clear Lakshmi won’t be taking any advice from strangers any time soon, this isn’t the first time the mom of one has made fun of some of the comments left on her social media.
Last month, the “Spices & Herbs” author shared a TikTok video of herself using a filter to appear as if she’s drifting in a boat.
“on my way to put on a bra because user75929 told me to,” she wrote on the hilarious clip, which was posted to the tune of Céline Dion’s iconic single, “My Heart Will Go On.”
Lakshmi welcomed her daughter Krishna with ex Adam Dell in 2010.
