Post Malone is shutting down claims that he’s on drugs after fans expressed concern over his dramatic weight loss.
According to TMZ, the “Congratulations” rapper — whose real name is Austin Richard Post — “insists he’s happy and healthy and nothing is amiss.”
Sources close to Malone, 27, tell the outlet that his fans don’t need to be alarmed because “he’s not on drugs or sick.” In fact, they say he recently gained weight for a movie role but has since been “adhering to a strict diet and working out.”
Additionally, the rapper has been performing a 90-minute set while touring since September, which has also contributed to his weight loss.
Malone’s father, Rich Post, also weighed in on his son’s new appearance on social media.
“Healthiest he’s been in years! Mentally and physically,” he commented on a fan page’s Instagram post.
Earlier this week, fans were shocked to see the “White Iverson” rapper looking a lot slimmer after a video surfaced on social media of him performing “I Fall Apart” in Sydney, Australia.
“Just saw a video of Post Malone in a show. He looks bad. Jerking and looks like he lost weight. I hope he’s ok. That’s my dude,” one person tweeted.
“I’m a bit worried that you lost so much weight.. I’m not used to it. Stay healthy please,” another added.
Other fans defended the new father, saying that he always performs with a lot of emotion and “isn’t doing drugs anymore.”
“Apparently Post Malone can’t sing his own song with sentiment without people thinking he’s on drugs. Literally this songs [sic] is sooo sentimental I don’t know how anyone could sing this son [sic] with no expression,” one person tweeted.
“post malone isn’t doing hard core drugs anymore, that’s why his music has changed so drastically and he looks so much healthier. he’s singing with passion now if he was stiff then it’s like ???? but how else is he supposed to sing i fall apart?” another supporter wrote.
Last summer, Malone revealed how his fiancée — who has not been publicly identified — helped him out of a “rough” battle with alcoholism.
“I just have super beautiful people around me, and I met a really beautiful person that made me feel like a human being again,” he said of his wife-to-be during a June 13 interview on the “Howard Stern Show.”
“It’s the guidance out of the dark into the light … She saved my f–king life — it’s pretty epic.”
Malone and his fiancée welcomed a baby girl sometime last year.
