Sam Asghari is setting the record straight on how he really feels about his wife, Britney Spears, posting nude photos of herself on social media.
“The only person in the world that gets bullied for posting things like this,” the “Lioness” actor, 28, commented on Instagram Friday before admitting, “I personally preferred she never posted these but who am I to control someone that’s been under a microscope and been controlled for most of her life.”
Asghari shared his stance after Spears, 41, posted on Instagram a series of topless photos of herself with only either emojis or her hair covering her naked breasts.
“Stop! Please stop! Freedom is not when you take off your clothes. Dress up and speak for yourself with a calm mind,” one critic wrote.
Another added in the comments section, “Something is not ok! Who is handling this account? And isnt there another court date soon? Someone is messing with her. Not normal. Why does Sam say ‘the media can be very traumatizing’ yet you’re ok with this?”
Asghari’s honest comment is the first time he has hinted at any discontent over Spears’ half-naked pics.
When Kevin Federline previously claimed his teen sons with the pop icon, Sean Preston, 17, and Jayden James, 16, had not seen their mother in months due to her racy photos, the former fitness trainer came to her defense.
“Even if there was truth to her kids being ashamed of their mothers [sic] choices and positive body image they wouldn’t be the 1st teenagers emberrassed [sic] of their parents,” Asghari wrote in an Instagram Story in August. “The mere presence of a parent can humiliate a teenager.”
He added at the time, “Eventually if not already they will realize their mothers [sic] choices are harmless and an expression of a newly found freedom. There is nothing to be embarrassed [sic] about just lots of things to be proud of ❤️🙏 .”
Asghari has been more outspoken lately about addressing the public scrutiny surrounding his relationship with Spears.
Earlier this month, the “Family Business” actor clarified why the “Hold Me Closer” singer does not accompany him to red carpet events or is not prevalent on his social media.
“It would be my honor if she joins [events]. For her, those things are not fun,” Asghari said on his Instagram Stories on Dec. 7.
“They’re [hectic] and full of stress. Specially, since she’s been doing these things since 8 years old. Plus she already slayed every single one she has been to.”
He added, “I have respect for her privacy and I protect it at all times. Thank you to all of her protective fans.”
Spears and Asghari tied the knot in a fairytale wedding at her home in California in June.
Prior to the getting married, the couple dated for five years amid her controversial conservatorship. They moved forward with a wedding after the guardianship was terminated in November 2021.
