King Charles announces first Trooping the Colour, new titles for royal family

It’s been just over three months since King Charles III took over the throne — and the monarch has been busy making changes within the royal family.

On Wednesday, the palace announced the King was giving Kate Middleton, Prince William and Queen Consort Camilla Parker-Bowles new titles while also revealing the date for his birthday celebration, known as the Trooping the Colours.

Charles’ daughter-in-law was officially named the new honorary Colonel of the Irish Guard, a title previously held by her husband.

Given Middleton’s new role, the Prince of Wales was fittingly appointed as Colonel of the Welsh Guards.

King Charles also revealed that the Queen Consort will serve as the Colonel of the Grenadier Guards, a position previously held by the disgraced Prince Andrew.

Amid the changes, the palace also announced the annual Trooping of the Colours will take place on June 17, 2023 — despite Charles’ 75th birthday actually being in November.

The King seems to have taken his late mother’s lead by deciding to hold the parade months before his actual name day due to better weather.

The parade — which also celebrates the armed forces — will showcase more than 1,400 soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians, according to Buckingham Palace.

In fact, some royals will also participate in the parade while riding horseback for thousands of people to cheer on from afar.

The big day is set to take place just six weeks after Charles’ coronation day — which could potentially be another family reunion.

According to the Daily Mail, the monarch plans to invite son Prince Harry, and his wife, Meghan Markle, to the event despite their strained relationship.

“Harry is his son and His Majesty will always love him,” the insider said. “While things are difficult at the moment, the door will always be left ajar.”
